Earning money to buy canvases...The struggle...
I've been trying to find a stay at home job to pay for the art supplies. I tried being a flight attendant but I was spending more on daycare than I was making...daycare is out of the question.
So I tried telemarketing today...oh no...don't try to be a telemarketer.
First, I hate myself for being those annoying people that insincerely greet you with a "may I speak to the residence of this address?"
But then I get to see the other side of the phone call 3 THOUSAND times. Yes, I had 3 THOUSAND phone numbers to call.
I would say only 5 phone numbers out of the 3,000 were real numbers.
Of those 5 I got hung up on, bitched at, and laughed at.
All I'm doing is reading a script 3,000 times hoping someone will say yes.
On top of that this job is all commission. You get paid each time someone agrees to make an appointment. Guess how much money I made...$0. Guess how much I should have made for the amount of work I put into it $3,000!!!!
Don't do it people. Just. Don't.

An artist with a lot to offer aspiring artist.
Hey, my name is Nina and I'm gonna tell you a bit about me. First, I'm gonna brag a bit to tell you how my art business has been over the past few years.
I've sold my art since I was 10 years old. It was very successful then because, hey, if you can find a 10 year old that can paint a realistic portrait, people tend to notice. I sold a few thousand dollars worth and used that money to live in France for a year when I was 18 to study art there. Well, that plan kinda back fired because I lost all of my publicity and the galleries I was in only held my art if I was there to swap paintings out on a monthly basis. When I was 19 I got pregnant, while on maternity leave I decided to paint the kind of things I painted while I was in France and see if they took off. My France inspired paintings were very popular.
Now I want to get connected with people who are interested in art like me so I am starting a blog. Plus, I like to talk about myself. Not my favorite personality trait but I've accepted that thats just who I am.
I'll be posting my art on here a piece at a time. I want to answer any questions you have like "how do you sell your art?" "How do you get an oil paint stain out of clothes?""How do you paint a hand?" Or anything else you can think of.
I'll be talking about how being a mom, artist and finding work on the side to pay the bills is like.
If you like my art and my blogs I can do a free one on one portrait lesson with you on skype.
Each blog is going to have a funny cartoon on it because I love to laugh.
Other than that welcome to NinArt World! and check out my website
